Noztek Nexus Mk2

Industrial Power, Desktop Footprint

Noztek Nexus Mk2 compact research extruder and compounder

Overview

The Noztek Nexus Mk2 redefines compact extrusion with a completely redesigned barrel and screw system engineered for superior melt quality, research-grade consistency, and genuine material versatility.

With a minimum working charge of just 7 g, the Nexus Mk2 is built for laboratory environments where feedstock is precious, formulations are experimental, and results must be repeatable. From standard polymer blends to carbon-fibre composites and highly filled compounds, the Mk2 processes the full thermoplastic spectrum with confidence.

Three independently PID-controlled heater zones, an extended 30.6:1 L/D ratio barrel, and a precision 3-stage screw generating 100–150 bar deliver the melt homogeneity and process stability that research and production environments demand. Noztek Control Hub software provides real-time monitoring, live temperature and RPM charts, and full CSV data export.

Key Features

7 g Minimum Charge

Process precious or experimental materials from as little as 7 g. Purpose-built for research labs where feedstock availability is limited and every gram counts.

Precision Control

7-inch capacitive touchscreen with full PID control across 3 independent heater zones. Noztek Control Hub provides live graphs, real-time torque and RPM data, and CSV export.

30.6:1 L/D Ratio

Extended barrel geometry increases residence time for superior melt homogeneity — essential for filled compounds, polymer blends, and high-viscosity engineering materials.

100–150 Bar

Progressive 3-stage screw compression generates 100–150 bar of barrel pressure, delivering consistent output with minimal backflow and <0.05 mm diameter variation.

Precision-Engineered Performance

3-Stage Screw Design

A purpose-built feed, compression, and metering screw (439 mm overall) with variable pitch — ramping from 10 mm to 12 mm across the first 180 mm — reduces shear stress while optimising intake for both pellets and powder feedstocks.

Extended 30.6:1 L/D Barrel

At 367 mm with a 12 mm internal bore, the Mk2 barrel delivers substantially increased residence time over its predecessor. The result is thorough, uniform melting and superior melt homogeneity across the full temperature range.

100–150 Bar Compression

Progressive root diameter taper from 5.60 mm (feed) to 10.40 mm (metering) generates 100–150 bar of barrel pressure — providing the pressure authority to process high-viscosity engineering polymers and highly filled composites.

Real-Time Process Intelligence

Noztek Control Hub software streams live temperature, RPM, and process data to your PC. Full CSV export of every run enables reproducible research and traceable production records.

Built for the Lab, Ready for Production

Research-Grade Filament Development

Test new polymers, blends, and composites with a 7 g minimum charge and full real-time data capture. Ideal for developing next-generation materials — from biodegradable variants for medical devices to high-performance composites.

Compounding & Filled Materials

Deep metering zone geometry and tight 0.10 mm flight-to-barrel clearances deliver the mixing performance required for carbon-fibre and glass-filled compounds, recycled regrind, and metal-polymer blends.

Broad Material Compatibility

Handle the full thermoplastic spectrum — PLA, ABS, PET, PP, HDPE, PEEK, recycled plastics, powders, and composite materials. Three independent PID zones allow precise thermal profiling for any formulation.

Industrial Reliability, Desktop Footprint

Precision-machined stainless steel screw and barrel with optional hardened bimetallic upgrade for abrasive or highly filled materials. Built to deliver repeatable, publication-ready results through years of rigorous use.

Command Centre: Noztek Control Hub

Complex extrusion, simplified. Full process control from a single intuitive interface.

3-Step Workflow

Setup → Warmup → Run. Train operators in minutes, not days. Parameters are pre-configured for common materials.

Live Dashboard

Real-time graphs for temperature, RPM, and process data across all zones. Spot drift before it affects your filament.

Precision Tuning

Adjust heater bands individually, set speed, and configure custom process profiles — all from one screen.

Smart Alerts

Instant notifications when temperatures drift or loads exceed thresholds. Protect your materials and equipment.

One-Click Data Export

CSV exports of full process data for compliance reporting, R&D analysis, publication support, or process optimisation.
